“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” Matthew19:6
Marriage Preparation: Couples who are ready for marriage will spend at least 6 months in preparation for their celebration. This preparation process is divided into three parts. To begin this process, please contact the Pastoral Assistant by email at [email protected] or by phone at 704-483-6448, Ext. 1005 to set up a meeting. Also, please complete the Marriage Preparation Inquiry Form.
Baptismal Certificate: Please contact the parish of your baptism to request a new, annotated baptismal certificate. That is, one that includes notations of other sacraments received on the back. We need a certificate that has been newly issued (within the last 6 months) in order to ensure your sacramental freedom to marry. This can be sent directly to Holy Spirit, or you can bring it to the office yourself. Please make sure it is sent to / delivered to the attention of Gary Hilton, Pastoral Assistant.
Pre-Cana Studies: Preparation for marriage in the Catholic Church requires a great deal of study and learning. You are preparing for a sacrament that will last as long as you both shall live! So, it only makes sense that you should know well, the gift of God that you are preparing to receive, and that you should learn how to be ready to receive it.
